Protecting The Desert Dish
Website security is important because it protects sensitive information, prevents unauthorized access, and helps maintain visitors’ trust. Keeping my website secure is essential to protecting my content and providing a safe browsing experience. Three ways I can improve security are installing an SSL certificate to encrypt information transmitted between visitors and my website, using strong and unique passwords, and installing security plugins like Wordfence to monitor potential threats and suspicious login activity.
WordPress User Roles
Another important part of website security is assigning appropriate user roles. WordPress offers five main roles: Administrator, Editor, Author, Contributor, and Subscriber. As the Administrator, I would manage the entire website, including plugins, settings, and user accounts. An Editor could manage and publish restaurant reviews written by other users, while an Author could write, edit, and publish their own reviews. A Contributor could submit restaurant recommendations or draft reviews for approval but would not be able to publish them independently. A Subscriber could maintain a basic account and manage their own profile without editing website content.
