DiMaggio’s Italian Restaurant in Scottsdale

I recently made my way to DiMaggio’s Italian Restaurant in Scottsdale, From the food to the atmosphere, everything about the experience felt warm, authentic, and comforting. The menu keeps things fairly simple, focusing on homemade Italian flavors and quality ingredients—and honestly, sometimes simple is exactly what you want.

DiMaggio's Menu

We started with the House Pulled Mozzarella, served with heirloom tomato, house-made pesto, EVOO, Maldon salt, pickled onion, and crostini. The combination was simple but SO good. The fresh mozzarella paired perfectly with the pesto, tomato, and pickled onion, and the crostini gave everything a nice crunch. It was the perfect light appetizer to share before the hefty entrees.

For our mains, we ordered the Spicy Rigatoni and the Barolo Braised Short Ribs so we could try a little bit of everything.

The Spicy Rigatoni came with Italian sausage, Calabrian chili purée, Mutti tomatoes, and vodka sauce. It had so much flavor without feeling overly complicated. The Calabrian chili gave it a nice kick, while the vodka sauce kept it rich and creamy.

The Barolo Braised Short Ribs came with tagliatelle, Gorgonzola Dolce sauce, and glazed cipollini onion. This one was seriously delicious. The short ribs were tender and flavorful, and the combination with the pasta and creamy Gorgonzola sauce made for an incredibly comforting dish.

The portion sizes were HUGE! We had plenty of leftovers to take home, and somehow, they tasted even better the next day. Honestly, that’s one of the best tests of a good restaurant in my book.

The food was definitely the star, but I also loved the atmosphere. DiMaggio’s has an elegant, cozy, and romantic feel that makes it perfect for a date night or a nice dinner out. It felt inviting without being overly formal, which made the whole experience feel relaxed and special at the same time.

Everything we tried was excellent, and the food had that homemade, authentic Italian feel that I was hoping for. There was nothing overly complicated about the dishes—the simple ingredients and classic flavors really spoke for themselves.

DiMaggio’s is looking to open another location in Gilbert, and I am very excited about the possibility of having one closer to home. I would happily make this a regular spot whenever I’m craving Italian food.

Would I go back? Definitely.
